Dr Tahira Cheema

Dr. Tahira Cheema is a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner with a deep commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare to her patients. With a wealth of experience and expertise, she is passionate about addressing a wide range of medical needs, particularly in the areas of women’s health, dermatology, minor surgery, and learning disability patient care.

Having earned her MBBS degree and subsequently obtaining qualifications such as MRCGP, DRCOG, and DFSRH, Dr. Cheema demonstrates her unwavering dedication to excellence in primary care. Her extensive training and continuous pursuit of knowledge allow her to deliver evidence-based and patient-centred care.

Dr. Cheema has a special interest in women’s health, with a focus on contraceptive options such as coils, pessaries, and contraception counselling. She is dedicated to empowering women to make informed decisions about their reproductive health and provides personalized care tailored to their individual needs.

Dr Saima Magrabi is a dedicated General practitioner working in Kirton and Scotter surgery. With over a decade of experience, Dr.  Magrabi has established herself as a trusted healthcare provider within her community. Having trained in the North Lincolnshire area and worked in a variety of different specialties, she is well aware of the health challenges faced by the local communities. Throughout her career, Dr.  Magrabi has been committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to her patients. She has a special interest in diabetes management which is evident in her commitment to empowering patients to take control of their health. She offers personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs, emphasizing education and lifestyle modification to achieve optimal outcomes. In addition to her focus on diabetes, Dr.  Magrabi has extensive experience in palliative care, providing compassionate support to patients and their families facing serious illness. Dr Satpal Singh Shekhawat

Dr Satpal Singh Shekhawat, graduated from Christian Medical College in Ludhiana, India. He then moved to UK in 2005 and completed his GP training in Northern Lincolnshire. He became a Member of Royal College of General Practitioners in 2009 and was awarded Fellowship of Royal college of General Practitioners in 2021.He has completed Master of Studies in Clinical Medicine from Cambridge University in 2024. He has special interests in Musculoskeletal system and minor surgical procedures, and he is competent in looking after long-term conditions.


Dr Shekhawat has been an educator since 2010 and has been training GP trainees to qualify as GPs and he is an Honorary senior lecturer at Hull York Medical School and teaches year 4 medical students at his NHS practice. He has been senior partner at Kirton Lindsey and Scotter practice and has served in various leadership roles in the region. He was Medical Director of North Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group from October 2018 till August 2022, and he has learnt a lot about clinical leadership and management in this period. Dr Shekhawat has been working as a GP partner In Kirton Lindsey and Scotter surgery for over 15 years and he is rated as an excellent GP. He was the winner of “Best GP of the year award” for 2023 at the Northern Lincolnshire GP federation awards.

DR Rana Maqbool Ahmad

Dr Rana Maqbool Ahmad is a General Practitioner who is fully committed towards achieving best health outcomes for patients. He has worked as a General Practitioner in North Lincolnshire since 2015, and is a GP partner at Kirton Lindsey & Scotter Surgery since 2020.

He is experienced in providing comprehensive care for people with a variety of health needs and backgrounds. He expertise includes primary care for patients at all stages of life, from early childhood to late old age.

He is wholly devoted to meet both physical and mental health needs of his patients. He strives to understand and respect the context of his patients’ living, aiming for the most holistic care possible.

He has been the prescribing lead within the Care Commissioning Group, and has also served as member of Area prescribing committee. He is also a board member of south primary care network.

He has a special interest in treatments for musculoskeletal health, including joint injections. He received an appreciation award from Safecare network GP federation for his contribution to patient care doing Covid pandemic. He is also a GP trainer. He takes active interest in local community and charity projects, and is a keen cricketer.

Dr Andrew Clifford

ENT Conusltant

Mr Ganapathy Dhanasekar

Mr Ganapathy Dhanasekar is an Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon currently working at the NHS with the NLAG trust covering Scunthorpe General Hospital in Scunthorpe, Diana Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby and Goole District Hospital since 2011.  He attained Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Madras, India, in 1992. He secured his Master’s in Medical Sciences (MMedSci) from Keele University, Stoke on Trent, in 2009. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS ENT) in 2000 and attained the exit exam FRCS(ORLHNS) in 2008.

He completed his higher surgical training in ENT in the West Midlands rotation which included the Birmingham Children’s Hospital. After completing his training, he completed a rhinology fellowship under Prof. Nick Jones at Nottingham.  He has also been on travelling fellowships visiting Rhinology/Facial Plastics surgeons in Portland-USA, Amsterdam and Zurich.

He has extensive experience in the medical and surgical management of general ENT conditions. His areas of interest other than routine Ear, Nose & Throat conditions are Rhinology (nasal disorders), Endoscopic sinus surgery, Rhinoplasty, Thyroid & Parathyroid surgery and correction of prominent ears. He offers all aspects of ENT outpatient consultations and outpatient-based treatments such as wax removal, cauterisations for nose bleeds, flexible laryngoscopy, balance treatment manoeuvres – such as Epley manoeuvre for positional vertigo.

Mr.Dhanasekar has extensively published in national and international peer reviewed journals. He has also widely presented in numerous ENT conferences. He is keen on research and has been awarded  his Masters, MMedSci from Keele University.He is  proud to be an honorary senior lecturer and is part of the simulation teaching faculty for the Hull York Medical School (HYMS). He also runs an ENT refresher course for General practitioners.

Dr Matthew Balerdi

My focus is on ‘making it better’. I have employed this philosophy in dealing with patients and colleagues across my many roles, locally, regionally, and nationally. The cornerstone is excellent communication and coming to an understanding of how you see your problems and condition. Your treatment and testing plans will be clear and focused on making it better, and even if you don’t get there on the first step, you’ll have a good understanding of the path to get there. I specialise in all aspects of cardiac ultrasound, from routine scans of the chest to stress echocardiography and complex congenital, inherited, and valve pathologies. I also perform cardiac and coronary CT scans and support the general cardiology service across the region. I am experienced in all aspects of general cardiology and have a keen interest in heart disease in pregnancy.

Menopause Specialist

Dr Tonye Wokoma FRCOG

Dr Tonye Wokoma is a Consultant in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Community Gynaecology. She has been a BMS Menopause Specialist for years and is the clinical lead for the Specialist Menopause service in Hull. Tonye was the former FSRH Menopause Guardian involved in the faculty curriculum and training.

Tonye is also Chair Exams Committee at the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health and honorary clinical tutor at the Hull York Medical School. She is a true advocate of women’s health and menopause care, keen to address health inequalities. She has authored publications including the Consensus-led recommendations supporting choice and personalisation of HRT in menopause care. She delivers national and international presentations and gave an enlightening talk at the BMS annual conference 2022 on addressing inequalities in menopause care. Tonye feels privileged to support women throughout their health journey and has a kind and sympathetic approach. She believes every woman is entitled to high quality, holistic, personalised care. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, reading and spending time with her family.

Orthopaedics Consultant

Mr Nikhil Nanavati

Mr Nikhil Nanavati is a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon, accredited by The Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is the winner of the NHS Clinical Excellence Award 2022 for his outstanding contributions to foot and ankle surgery. With a strong academic background, Mr Nanavati ranked fourth in Yorkshire at the basic surgical training exam and eleventh in the country at the specialist orthopaedic training exam.

He has contributed to the international textbook, “Essentials in Foot and Ankle Surgery,” authoring a chapter. Mr Nanavati has won regional awards and has been nominated for national awards for his innovation in orthopaedic surgery. He has worked alongside two previous presidents of the British Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS) and completed a specialist foot and ankle fellowship with the BOFAS president.

Mr Nanavati has completed a humanitarian secondment in Malawi, Africa, performing complex trauma surgery with limited equipment. He also holds a postgraduate Masters in Orthopaedic Engineering (MSc). He has completed specialist orthopaedic surgical training in Sheffield and is an Advanced Trauma and Life Support (ATLS) instructor with the Royal College of Surgeons. He also serves as an expert witness and medicolegal specialist in orthopaedic surgery. Mr Nanavati is a member of the British Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS). He earned his undergraduate medical degree from Brighton/Sussex medical school and was educated at The Manchester Grammar School.

Consultant Rheumatologist

Dr Alvi

Dr Alvi specialises in Rheumatic disorders including: –  Rheumatoid arthritis, knee pain, back pain, connective tissue disorders including Lupus, Vasculitis, Osteoarthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Polymyalgia Rheumatica, Myositis and soft tissue rheumatology including Fibromyalgia.

Dr Alvi completed his specialist training in Rheumatology, working across leeds, Hull and Grimsby.  He has extensive experience in rheumatology and has been working as a Consultant Rheumatologist since 2011.

Dr Alvi is Clinical Lead for Rheumatology and honorary Senior lecturer at the Hull York Medical School.  He thoroughly enjoys his job as a Rheumatologist as well as teaching to HYMS students.

Consultant Gastroenterologist

Dr Prabhakar Mysore

Following higher specialist training Dr Mysore was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist in November 1999 at Scunthorpe General Hospital (North Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust. He was previously Clinical Lead for Gastroenterology at NLAG and set up Acute Gastrointestinal bleed service and Capsule Enteroscopy Service. Following retirement in November 2021 he is currently employed at Scunthorpe General Hospital as Consultant Endoscopist and Consultant Gastrointestinal Specialist delivering Upper GI straight to test pathway for suspected upper GI cancer. He has extensive experience in all aspects of General Gastroenterology and Hepatology and has keen interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Endoscopy

Consultant Orthopaedics

Mr. Ricardo J Pacheco

I have been a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust since 2011. After schooling in Santander (Spain), I qualified from Cantabria University Medical School in 1994 and undertook my Basic Surgical Rotation in Yorkshire followed by a period of research at Sheffield University.  I undertook my higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in the Sheffield and Yorkshire Regional Orthopaedic Training Programmes followed by fellowships in Sports Injuries in Bradford and knee surgery in Leicester.

My area of interest is Knee Surgery and Sports Injuries.

I performed exclusively Knee Surgery, being a high volume surgeon performing over 300 knee replacements a year with excellent results and patient reported outcomes as demonstrated in the National Joint Registry (top 2% nationally). 
I regularly also performed partial knee replacements, revision knee replacements as well as anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions and other ligament reconstructions, realignment procedures in the knee (for young patients arthritis and preservation surgery), meniscal surgery and patella stabilisation procedures. 

I regularly deal with elite athletes including football players, rugby players, cyclists, motorbike riders, horse riders and triathletes.

I have done work for football clubs in the championship, league one and league two divisions.

 Physiotherapist

Gary Butcher

Gary graduated from York St John University in 2011 and is currently one of the most qualified Physiotherapists in the region. He studied to gain additional qualifications in Acupuncture in 2014 whilst working as Clinical Lead Physiotherapist at Scunthorpe General closely followed by a qualification in musculoskeletal medicine and Advanced physiotherapy practice at Sheffield Hallam University in 2018. In 2020 Gary qualified in musculoskeletal injection therapy from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh and most recently qualified in Physiotherapy independent prescribing at Sheffield Hallam University.

When he is not working at Oswald House Gary works in both community and hospital settings as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner assessing and managing patients with a wide range of complex musculoskeletal conditions. 

Gary has a special interest in lower limb conditions, both acute injuries and long term chronic management. He is able to plan and implement high level combined physical and cognitive therapy programmes for people with long term persistent pain and is committed to creating positive outcomes. 

Gary is an independent prescriber and an experienced injection therapist who is used to administering various medicines in the management of chronic conditions. Gary is also an accredited acupuncture physiotherapist with a special interest in the management of longstanding low back pain, chronic pain and Fibromyalgia.

Consultant Radiologist

Dr Ajay Dabra

Dr. Dabra is a consultant radiologist with special interests in musculoskeletal (MSK) and gastrointestinal (GI) radiology. He has over 25 years of experience in the field.
Dr. Dabra is skilled in interpreting a wide range of imaging modalities, including X-ray, CT, MRI, and ultrasound, to diagnose and monitor MSK and GI conditions.
He is highly skilled in performing image-guided MSK injections and other non-vascular interventions, providing targeted therapeutic solutions for patients with musculoskeletal issues like arthritis, tendonitis, and joint inflammation.
Dr. Dabra is known for his compassionate approach to patient care, prioritizing clear communication and ensuring patients feel informed and supported throughout their healthcare journey.He takes the time to understand their concerns and involve them in shared decision-making.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Dabra has made significant contributions to patient care, education, and clinical leadership over his 25-year career.
He currently serves as the clinical lead of the radiology department at North Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust.

Consultant Urologist.

Mr Mathew Thomas

Mr Thomas has been working as a consultant in North Lincolnshire since 2013. In that time, he has been clinical lead of the Urology department, as well as the Divisional Medical Director for surgery. He currently is the chief of service for speciality surgery which includes urology services across the Humber.He specialises in kidney stone treatment (endourology), urology cancer diagnostic investigations, and benign prostate disorder management (including TURP and green light laser surgery). Additionally, I treat peno-scrotal disorders, erectile dysfunction, and bladder dysfunction (including bladder Botox injections, urinary tract infections, and cystitis). I also perform various diagnostic investigations, such as cystoscopy, urodynamics, and prostate biopsy (including transperineal biopsies).He offers a personalised, sensitive and comprehensive service to all his patients, offering rapid diagnosis and specialist intervention using the latest treatments and techniques. He aims to respond promptly and personally to his patients needs and is committed to offering a bespoke individual plan of treatment

Consultant Orthopaedics

Mr Desai

Mr Desai completed his Orthopaedic training in India and obtained further higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics from Northern Deanery, Newcastle.

He secured an MSc and was the first candidate to obtain a Mch in Trauma and Orthopaedics from Edge Hill University. He undertook his fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery from the world-renowned upper limb unit at Wrightington hospital.

His areas of special interest and expertise are in treating sports-related injuries, arthritis and complex trauma of shoulder and elbow. He performs most of the shoulder and elbow procedures by keyhole surgery under regional anaesthesia as day cases(Rotator cuff repair, Impingement, Frozen shoulder, Tennis elbow). He has pioneered doing shoulder replacements as day cases including awake surgery in the NHS Trust and region.

He has presented more than 50 papers at national and international meetings and published 30 papers, as well as book chapters in his speciality.

Mr Desai teaches on Orthopaedic courses and is actively involved in training junior doctors and medical students. He is a Hon Sr Lect at both Sheffield and Hull Yorkshire Medical School. He has been appointed as Royal College Regional Surgical Advisor and Foundation Training Programme Director. He is an examiner for FRCS Tr&Orth.

Physiotherapist

Nav Amlani

I am a senior Physiotherapist, specialising in musculoskeletal disorders and conditions and general joint aches and pains. I have been a Physiotherapist since 2000, solely in the musculoskeletal specialism since 2004, and successfully managed the North Lincolnshire Musculoskeletal and Pain Service over the past 5 years, where GPs and their practice staff have entrusted the service with their patients with musculoskeletal conditions, efficiently managing their care through triage, ensuring they are referred to the right service, physiotherapy, complex physiotherapy, pain services and where needed arranged diagnostics and referral to consultants in secondary care. In doing so, developing established and well-trusted relationships with GPs, their practice staff, the radiology team and Orthopaedic, Pain and Neurology Consultants. I have had the privilege of working in the NHS, Primary Care, Community Care and Private Practice.

Complimenting my Physiotherapy skills, I am particularly interested in person-centred holistic health and wellbeing and have an MSc in Workplace Health and Wellbeing.

As a Physiotherapist, I can undertake complex assessments and a range of manual therapy and physiotherapeutic treatments and regularly maintain my Continued Professional Development.

I receive regular compliments and positive feedback from patients and colleagues on my caring empathic approach.

Consultant Orthopaedics 

Mr Carl Fenton

Mr Fenton is Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in lower limb surgery including hip replacement (primary and revision), knee replacement (total and partial) and arthroscopic surgery of the knee. Trained at the Hull York Medical School, qualifying in 2008, he completed his specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedics on the Yorkshire rotation.

Among other achievements he has a MSc degree from the University of Edinburgh and gained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2020. This was followed by a specialist fellowship in lower limb arthroplasty at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Glasgow, including training in robotic hip and knee replacement.

In addition to elective surgery, Mr Fenton has busy trauma surgery practice at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust with an interest in fracture around hip replacements. He publishes regularly and takes a keen interest in service and quality improvement. He is also an Advanced Trauma Life Support course instructor, training other doctors to manage major traumatic injuries. In his spare time, he is a keen motorcyclist and works as a medic at the famous Isle of Man TT races.

Background:
I did my 5-year Anaesthesia and Pain medicine specialty training in Yorkshire and was rotated to both district general and teaching hospitals. I was assessed by multiple supervisors in those years and received exceptional comments on my multi source feedback.

My Advance Pain training was under the supervision of nationally recognised supervisors and international speaker at Bradford royal Infirmary and later at Hull University Teaching Hospitals. I got signed off for my advance pain training after attending pain clinics and performing nearly 500 pain interventions.

I also have membership diploma (MCPS) and fellowship of the college of physicians and surgeons Pakistan (FCPS). FCPS is an acceptable test of knowledge for specialist registration with GMC through alternate routes.

Currently, as a chronic pain consultant, I work in the pain management team at Hull University Teaching Hospital. The pain team is based at Castle hill hospital. This includes both clinic and a theatre session for interventional pain procedures.

Just in the last year, I did over 200 pain procedures, under both ultrasound and fluoroscopic guidance. These include spinal epidurals and nerve root blocks for neuropathic pain, facet joint injections, medial branch blocks and Sacroiliac joint blocks for mechanical back pain, and radiofrequency of medial branches and pulsed ablations of nerve roots for prolong relief. I offer sympathetic plexus blocks including stellate ganglion block, celiac, splanchnic, lumbar, hypogastric plexus, ganglion impar blocks for visceral pain. I also offer sphenopalatine ganglion block for facial pain and occipital nerve block for headaches.

Pain from large joints such as Hips, knee and shoulder is my area of interest and I offer denervation of articular branches of femoral and obturator nerve for arthritic hip joint pain, genicular nerve denervation for persistent knee pain and Suprascapular nerve blocks and pulsed ablations for shoulder pain.

Statement:
Being a consultant in Anaesthesia, ICU and Pain Medicine, I want to continually improve in these challenging roles.
